Leap Day? Leap this!

It happens every four years- February gets another day added onto it. Kinda nifty, a little odd, but nonetheless it happens. Now- what is the big deal behind all this? Outside of car lots and furniture stores advertising their "LEAP DAY SPECTACULAR" sales... (Insert loud announcer's voice- "Deals like this only happen every FOUR years!" Big deal? I think? I guess outside of the general oddness of writing 2.29 in the check book register for the bill I paid online today and my quick stop at Circle K- I don't understand all the fuss.

Pardon my attitude today- I'm feeling fussy. Like an irritable toddler that just won't cheer up or stop throwing fits for no reason. Nothing seriously bad happened at work today. Nothing was horribly broken or out of place here at the house. All the bills are paid, nothing lingering there. All being good reasons to be fussy. The only thing I could even narrowly pin my ill mood on would be either the bone chilling damp weat…

Chilly Monday

Hubby and I saw this in the store on Friday night- this here is a puke party waiting to happen. Ironically the end cap next to this display was scented room sprays and multipurpose cleaner.
This past weekend, Hubby and I got a lot done. It actually started Friday afternoon while Hubby was taking a couple hour nap. He didn't sleep much, if at all, during his 24 hours shift on Thursday. While he was napping with our cuddly little teetsy fly we call Doggie-pup, I was in my office. Cleaning. And when I say cleaning I meant, sorting and pitching piles of junk papers; dusting, organizing the shelves; sorting out which purses need to be hung on the wall and what ones can be stored away; straightening bookshelves and taking advantage of the new space; wiping down my desk; organizing tax paperwork and figuring out what we still need before filing them... I know I did the whole purge and clean thing not so long ago, but every little bit helps- and in my office's case- four bags of garb…

This is what I looked like- all dressed up and girly-like for SkyWarn class.
One of the speakers- the Kent County Under Sheriff
The thought of a billowing beautiful cumulonimbus growing on the western horizon on a hot summer day gets my blood pumping. The peals of thunder beckon me outside, gathering my camera and batteries. I set up my camera in the openess of the back yard. I scan the darkening clouds, smelling the rain approaching. With heart fluttering like mad- I hit record on the camera- waiting. Waiting and hoping to cath that pop flash of natural electricity. I stand there next to my aluminum tripod- the anticipation leaving my breath quickening. I am trained in what to look for. What could happen. What that cloud formation could turn into- is it nothing or should I run for safety?

As I sat in the middle school auditorium last night, I listened and watched people. The uber geeks, the one's that don't care about such small things as brushing their teeth or outward app…

So, I am busy. Doing what- I'm not sure actually. BUT! I know I have done photo editing this morning to catch up on the last week or so's 365 pictures, it's coming to a close this coming weekend, must start prepping for the next 365 project! (giggles and claps hands!)
I am also super geeked and excited about going to SkyWarn class tomorrow evening! I'm getting my outfit for the evening prepped- I even contemplating giving myself a manicure and facial- got's to look good for the photos of me and hunky weather studs, don't I?
Until I give you all a recap of the super geek-dom known as SkyWarn class on Friday, when I will no doubt be suffering from a geek-over (he he, get it?) Here on are some pictures.

I have not forgotten you dear blog… I have merely been a busy, frantic, snarky ass of a girl that has been playing new computer games too much, doing too much housework (much to the dislike of the still healing pelvis), taking care of Doggie-Pup’s wounded paw, and avoiding the pending editing of the novel…

To go backwards- yesterday was Septic sucking day here at the house. The kinda of jerky dude with the big ‘ol poop sucker truck rolled in about noonish-30 and after explaining how to get his truck close to the house without driving up my lawn, he warned matter-of-factly that “I’ll probably pop the lids on those tanks to find they are so compacted that I can’t do anything for you today… And that will definitely cost extra…” Nice scare tactic, dude. REALLY. “And for future reference, you only need to dig up one lid per tank…” Well, we dug up both to save the whole argument of- tank lids NOT exposed, additional charges apply. Much to dudes dismay- the tanks were not compacted/constipa…

Work to Be Done...

I will be busy the next little while... Actually I've been kinda busy all week. Tuesday- Hubby and I ventured to the land of the great MSU to visit with Nana/Editor. She loved the book, and after I make the required changes to it, will love it even more! I also showed her my photography work, which she gushed about to everyone that came by her place on Tuesday while we were there. Two of Hubby's uncles stopped in, one staying over after a business meeting in Grand Rapids (he lives in Chicago) added bonus- he tells the best filthy jokes! While the other lives nearby to Nana, came to visit and eat pizza and salad with us all. Also, one of Hubby's half-sisters (we'll call her Law School Red) was there with her handsome fiance. LSR and I exploded with giggles when while she was prepping Nana's Gin 'n Tonic, the tonic water bottle spewed all over her and the kitchen counter. Nana thought we were causing trouble, but really we were just laughing our asses off at the …

That's what Hubby gave me for an early Valentine's Day present. A membership to the Meijer Gardens. Going there on Tuesday, in spite of the sunny weather we were having that day, was a welcomed shot of green, flowers, and warmth.

Hubby gave me a challenge- to photograph the translucence of the needles on the barrel cactus. Done.
Talk about a welcome burst of color! This tulip was just too intense to not photograph!

I fell in love with this orchid. How the light played on it. How the shadows made it look more dramatic. And oh my goodness- I had no idea I had caught the water droplets on a neighboring bud till I went through the shots when we got home!!
 Stunning. Absolutely stunning...
I must take this shot everytime I go there. Looking up at the glass ceiling of the conservatory with the vine as a focal point... It makes you feel both small and in complete awe of nature.
Well- I over did things yesterday. Mind you al I am still recovering from my fall a week ago yesterday.…
