Favorite Holiday EVER!!!

Image
And ironically- I'm not doing anything tonight! What the hell right? I am probably going to end up staying home and giving candy to the 3 kids that'll be stopping here; gorging myself on roasted pumpkin seeds and chocolate, watching the 2 hour Dancing with the Stars Halloween special, and maybe helping put away the partitions from the fire department funhouse later this evening- unless I stay in to watch Castle.

Hubby is at work until 9pm tonight (don't ask...) and honestly, since a falling out years ago with a former best friend- my urge to party the night away, and get the shit scared out of me on Halloween has all but died. Each year gets a little more difficult to force myself into putting up the decorations. Well now... Maybe since the weather seems to be clearing up a bit- I might just gather up the camera gear and go play in a local cemetery... That'll be spooky, won't it?

This weekend we very productive here in the household. Saturday- all day- Hubby was home…

I Don't Understand...

I need to rant. I need to get something off my chest that Hubby doesn't want to hear anymore then I want this issue to have flared up once again. So pardon me if my rant gets a little heated but this chronic flare up of the issue denotes that this might get heated.

With a great grinding whirrr and pop- the pistons start moving and smoke boils out of the stack- ladies and gents, here goes the rant machine!

The aggrvating party- we'll call her Egg Roll (ER), has popped back into my life like a boil on my big toe. You try to ignore it, you try to cover it with a band aid, but the more you move the afflicted appendage- the more the pain annoys you.

She cannot clean up her own mess. Nor can she mind her own fucking business. It's obvious to me that I may never actually be done dealing with this woman. It was a wonderful year or so that she wasn't constantly calling my Hubby in some variation of a drunken rampage of rambling and crying. It was a lovely spot of time in which I d…

Manistee Architecture...

Image
These first two shots are from the and of the house...

Nautical architecture doing it's thing...

An old carriage house that's now a bar

Creeping ivy turning colors.... Too too cool

The metal drawbridge in the city of Manistee

Part of the great stone bridge up the river from the metal one.

I fell in love with the gates around the back of the old carriage house...

The Manistee Iron Works building... Oh how I so badly want to go inside and photo graph!!!

These are from a super creepy abadoned school with found in town...

Facing my phobia of trains in general- and getting good evidence...

Sunday... Slightly Boring Sunday

A heartbreaking blue sky above, that only October can have...
The sun that looks warm but doesn't feel it...
A walk in the cemetery...
Tall standing Maples donnign their golden robes of Autumn...
Looking down on me-
making me feel oh so little.

The crunch of leaves under my feet...
Releasing that scent of Autumn so cherished...
Leaf smoke filling my nostrils...
as spiced coffee coats my tongue...
Surrounded by people, but still I am alone.

Lichen covered head stones telling of a past long forgotten...
Ancient romances and brave battles fought...
Synthetic flowers telling of someone who still cares...
Tattered American flags, wind whipped and breeze blown honoring those men.

Seeing the dates etched in granite...
All those years gone and marked by change...
I stand before my family long gone...
Missing them and wishing they were here-
yet I know somehow they know who I have become
and what I've been thru- seeing the woman I am now.

I take photographs to remind me later of Autumn...
Those beautiful co…

A Little Update

Due to some technical difficulties (like I have dial-up and for some reason it's being stupid today), I won't be posting the Manistee Architecture blog until Monday. The pictures are pretty huge and so on and so forth so you'll all just have to wait until Monday for that nugget of greatness!

But, so as to not disappoint... Here's a little rant that has been building in my head for the past couple days now... "Do you smell smoke?" Nah... the rant machine back fired again... the engine needs a tune up...

As most of you know by now- Hubby, myself, our friend Globug and Doggie-pup took a well deserved three day weekend in Manistee last week. It was the first time Hubby actually put in for time off (even though he wasn't on call, he put in for it just to assure he wasn't bothered), since early August when his family was in town. A three day weekend. Not a week, not two weeks- A THREE DAY WEEKEND!!! I find it sadly pathetic that he has to burn PTO just to get…

The Beach House Weekend 2011 Photos

Image
The photographer hard at work on Manistee Beach. It's hard work trying to steady the camera ina full on 45 mph wind!

This is why Doggie-Pup isn't a fan of the beach when it is windy... She's short enough to be the blowing sand line...

This is what the water looked like at sunset on Friday evening as the waves built and the sun sank...

This is a little stream that runs out onto the beach about half a mile north of the beach house. Hubby and I came across it on our Saturday evening walk.

Strength to stand up and fight the wind that blew him to the beach during the seasonal migration of the Monarch butterflies...

The view of the world from a piece of sea glass...

It's all in how you look at it, isn't it?

A truly spectacular sunset on Friday night! Even mother nature know's it's October and time for breast cancer awareness!!!

The raging inland ocean on Saturday afternoon...

A study of sorts into those funny to watch seagulls...

A-luring isn't it??

Holy Mother of...

Imagine- if you will- little 'ol me... All cute, bitchy, and petite- buried up to my shoulders in a mountain of stuff. Photos, pieces of paper filled with things to write about, laundry, books to put away, oh- and did I mention photos? I feel almost hopelessly lost in the slurry of things that have happened over the course of the past five days.

Friday, Saturday, and the better part of Sunday- Globug, Hubby, Doggie-Pup, and I were enjoying the Manistee beach house. The same one we spent a lovely three days in last October. This year, however, the weather was fierce. And when I say fierce, I mean- 50 mile per hour winds at almost a constant clip for over 24 hours. These winds battled the house, scared the holy shit out of Doggie-Pup, and kept me furiously too busy taking pictures of the 15 plus feet waves battering the beach below us. I was so busy that I never really did any journals to post to the blog, so I will give everyone a guided tour of the weekend through pictures once I g…

Plop Plop Fizz Fizzz

Image
Oh what an icky cold relief it is. Currently I am sick. Wait- not just sick... Wishing I was perhaps dead, sick. Monday- I had a scratchy throat and post nasal ick. Tuesday- stuffy nose and wierd pressure in my ears, getting tired after doing only little things, and a fever when I wen to bed- plus that added benefit of having a runniny nose that prevented me from sleeping- in spite of the Nyquil (liquid coma medicine). Today- Wednesday... Oh boy. I have a plugged up- cannot taste anything nose; heavy pressure in my chest, and the burning fire death rattle cough. And since I found the thermometer- a fever of 100 degrees.

For my sickness I am taking- Emergen-C 3 times a day, Alkaseltzer daytime twice a day, Zicam gel up the schnoze-o-la 3 times a day, 2 capsules of Elderberry extract 3 times a day, plus my vitamens: calcium, powdered ginger, B-Complex, women's bone and breast health multi-vitamen, Fish oil, vitamen E, and vitamen C. I would absolutely love to take the zinc (Zicam) in…
